first call ambience’11

Tags: ,

There will be an international conference and exhibition called Ambience’11 on the new expressional crossroads where art, design, architecture and technology meets digital architecture, interaction design, new media art and smart textiles at the University of Borås 28-30 November 2011. The first international Ambience conference was held in Tampere, Finland 2005 and the conference in general focuses on the intersections and interfaces between technology, art and design.
With a foundation in artistic practice the conference will be organized as a meeting place where art, design, architect and technology communities can come together to discuss and share ideas on the interfaces between art and technology development; a place where art, design, architecture and technology can meet and interact, to inform each other, and to bring new ideas back to their own community.
The conference will include sessions for paper presentations as well as an exhibition for the presentation of art, design and architectural work.
Keynote speakers will introduce discussions about, and critical reflections on, the future development of the intersections between artistic practice and technology. Concerts and performances will also display artistic perspectives on modern technology.
Extended abstracts of papers and exhibition proposals should be submitted no later than April 1, 2011.
Please visit the conference website for more information and detailed instructions!

swan singers

The performance artist Charlotte Engelkes have created a work called Svansångare (about life in between, the beforedeath and the afterthought) together with six actors at Helsingborgs stadsteater, amongst others Phd candidate Petra Fransson. Svansångare premieres December 5 and is a strange version of Tjajkovskijs the Swan Lake, reborn through sound designer Willy Bopp. What’s the content of the last scene before the black out, what’s the last song of the dying swan?

white, rich and free…

Tags: , , ,

December 2 the City Theatre of Stockholm premieres a new monologue by Christina Ouzounidis (who is also the director)  in collaboration with Teatr Weimar in Malmö, with Ann Petrén as the actor. The monologue takes as it’s point of departure the position of Klytaimnestra and her position in ancient Greek society. She’s a woman in a country where women are not empowered as citizens, but she is also rich, white and belongs to the victorious people in the recent war. The play investigates patriarchal positioning, the self-appointment of power as well  as the violence and lack of fantasy required to position oneself as the norm. (photo: Petra Hallberg)

The seminar (in Swedish) is held in conjunction with the release of a book with texts by both Joakim and some of his many friends and colleagues. The cost for the seminar (including coffee and food) is SEK 260, and tickets can be bought at the website of Stockholms stadsteater.
