2nd semester meeting february 7-9 2011

The second semester meeting of Konstnärliga forskarskolan was held February 7-9 2011 in Malmö, at the Inter Arts Centre and in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund university. Most of the time was dedicated at identifying and constructing themes and topics for work in smaller groups of PhD candidates in the years to come using an open space methodology, but some of the time was also dedicated to exhibitions, a performance and presentations by PhD candidates at the Malmö Art Academy.

harsh notes

Between January 21 and 30, The harsh notes (De stränga anteckningarna) is performed at the Inter Arts Center at Bergsgatan 29 in Malmö, in a Teatr Weimar production. The harsh notes is an installation for two actors, four singers, electroacoustic music, paintings and installations: displaying a frozen war zone with an omnipresent death, where myths are ongoing stories about the conditions we live by today. The text is written by Jörgen Dahlqvist and the music is composed by Kent Olofsson, with Sara Wilén as one of the singers.

switched on

Switched-On is an ensemble with digital and electric instruments. This premiere production features works by John Oliver, Roger Reynolds, Kent Olofsson, Henrik Frisk, Alessandro Perini and improvisation with electronics and digital instruments. December 4 at 19.30 pm Switched-On gives it’s first concert at the Inter Arts Centre in Malmö.

conversations on nijinsky

Monday November 29 at 19 pm there’s an open lecture at the Inter Arts Centre in Malmö as part of the Inter Arts – Seminars 2010, organized by Malmö Theatre Academy. Miriam Horwitz, master student at Ernst Busch Hochschule für Schauspielkunst in Berlin talks about her new performance “Nijinsky”. The performance is inspired by the diary written by the famous dancer and choreographer in 1919, just before he was hospitalized for the rest of his life due to schizophrenia.

hamlet II:exit ghost

Hamlet II:exit ghost
is an adaption of Shakespeare’s classical drama that takes Hamlets and Ophelias relation to an indifferent world of adults as it’s point of departure, conveying their attempts at trying to shape their identities in a home full of death. This is the closing part of the triptych starting with Elektra Revisited and Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin av Jörgen Dahlqvist: all  investigating the language of violence. Actors are Linda Ritzén and Rafael Pettersson, text and direction by Jörgen Dahlqvist and composer is Kent Olofsson. Played at the Inter Arts centre in Malmö November 12-21. November 8, at 19 pm, there will be an open Lecture as part of the Inter Arts – seminars 2010 at the Inter Arts Centre in Malmö. Malmö Theatre Academy arranges a conversation on modern acting departing from Billie Whitelaw’s works with Samuel Beckett, involving actors and PhD candidates Petra Fransson and Lena Dahlén and actor and professor Birgitta Vallgårda.

The intention with this second meeting is to broaden and deepen the discussion on supervision: in relation to previous experiences (together with Sarat Maharaj, curator and professor in Visual Arts and Knowledge Systems at Lund university as well as research professor at Goldsmiths college, London) and in relation to supervision at postgraduate level in general (together with Anders Sonesson and Åsa Lindberg-Sand from the Center for Educational Development, Lund university).

conversations on stage direction

As part of the Inter Arts -Seminars at the newly opened Inter Arts Centre in Malmö (a collaborative and public space hosted by Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University) there is an open lecture entitled Conversations on Stage Direction. Participants in the conversation are Anu Saari, director and Theater Manager of Volkstheater, Rostock, Anna Novovic, Swedish director and Birgitta Vallgårda, professor at Malmö Theatre Academy. The 11th of October, 19.00, in the Red Room.
