extra sensorial garden

Tags: , ,

The Extra Sensorial Garden is a fictional garden that has been artificially created to stimulate the visitor’s sensory system and evoke strong physical experiences. There is not always a lot to see, but instead there’s a lot to be sensed. Changes in light, colour, temperature and sound create the texture of sensation in this artificial nature experience. How do you relate to nature? Do you want to be overwhelmed by it or calmed down? Or, are you simply one of those who think nature no longer exists? The performance, by coreographer and PhD candidate Mette Ingvartsen, can be experienced 6-9 June 2012 during the Burning Ice #5  at the Kaiitheater in Brussels – the festival this year has the title We- the gardeners. Artists investigating the rising tension between nature and culture, are invited, as well as  scientists and theorists.

all the way out there….

Tags: ,

February 26 and 27 a new performance by Mette Ingvartsen has it’s premiere at Kaiitheater in Brussels, being part of the programme of Festival Performatik.  All the way out there...created by Mette Ingvartsen and Guillem Mont de Palol is a performance of extremes’. They present two figures in search of intense physical expression, from stillness and silence to speed and ecstasy. Their screams are either too loud to be heard or too soft to be ignored. Human affects and emotions are transformed through repetition, variation and montage. Ingvartsen and Mont de Palol seek forms of expression on the borderline of the human and the inhuman. In their search for the ‘post-human body’ they go all the way.(picture © Ingvartsen and Mont de Palol)
