Tags: , , ,

Tuesday April 24 there will be an opening of the “electrical” called PS. Jag kommer snart hem! at the laboratory Operaverkstan at Malmö Opera. Composer and PhD candidate Anna Einarsson has worked together opera voices, acoustic instruments and electronic music for this performance, based on the true story of the shipwrecked sailor who once stood model for the daddy of Peppi Longstocking in Astrid Lindgren’s books. The performance, where the story is told in and through three interconnected spaces created by scenographer Leif Persson, is made in collaboration between Operaverkstan and Teater Insite in Malmö, with Maria Sundqvist as the librettist and Ragna Weisteen as director.

The children’s opera Grannfejden (Quarrel between neighbours), that premiered at the Malmö Opera stage Verkstan the 29th of April, will be playing at Kulturen in Lund May 3-5. The opera builds on an old Swedish folk tale and on Gustaf Frödings narrative poem Jan Ersa och Per Ersa, but is placed in contemporary time. Through a meeting between different art forms and knowledge areas it aims at giving an in depth experience of what opera can be, starring opera singers David Hornwall and Ph D candidate Sara Wilén.
